over the past few years we have seen a surge of artists, music and labels coming out of romania and, whilst not seen as a traditional hotbed of house music, this new wave of movers and shakers are working together to create their own lasting musical legacy. the latest in the busy line of producers is 22 year old bacau born, marcman. behind the decks at 14 and studying his art from 18 the young man with a love for angry kicks and heavy baselines has already graced the likes of quanticman, plant 74 and esperanza with his music. now hes set to join the bass culture family as he presents his debut release for the label the in trecere ep. >i was actually sent some marcman tracks about a year ago by franco cinelli< says bass culture label chief djulz. i instantly loved his beats and groove and i played them immediately on the circoloco terrace. i got in touch and asked him to work on an ep for bass culture. i specifically wanted it for this summer because his beats are exactly what i love to play in ibiza. marcmans 4 track >in trecere< ep sees him sandwiching the deep dubby sounds of rutina and the percussive guitar licked dansand, with the chicagoesque numbers levier and in trecere.

hannover based imprint yippiee return with the outstanding come with me ep this august by manuel moreno, backed with remixes from label owners filtertypen and normen hood. this release follows the success of yippiees treibgut sonder kompilation which featured cuts from deepnhouse heavy hitters chris lattner, moritz piske, patlac and gorge to name a few. now the german imprint deliver this four track single from swiss producer manuel moreno whos releases on 8bit and dj sets at space and privilege (ibiza) have earned him a highly praised status in the underground. title track, come with me, opens the release, encompassing a boomy kick drum, tight drum programming and ethereal atmospherics to create a deep and dark distinctive quality. the inclusion of a gritty sub bassline further fuels its murky progressive vibe, while the introduction of a soulful vocal hook and bright string melodies adds a lighter touch to the composition.label owners filtertypen opt for a less is more approach to their remix of come with me. stripping back the atmospherics to a more dismantled state, the duo-apply punchy drums and a warbling sub-bass,resulting in a smooth rolling groove that runs steadily for its duration. the cut comes into fruition threeminutes in when the pair bring in an amalgamation of deep strings, synth shots and delayed fx, finely placedto create an expansive dynamism. hello bernhard employs deep worldly percussion as its driving force, while guitar licks and warm chordscreate undeniably beautiful imagery. moreno demonstrates his ability to manipulate melodies with precisionhere, introducing several elements to play off one another in a call and response fashion. last up on the wax release is im sorry, a solid slice of house built around rolling toms, sawtooth bass notes and trippy vocal murmurs. manuel utilizes heavy delays and big room reverbs to create cavernous effects in the breaks that adds an incredible weight when the preceding groove is brought back in. to close the release normen hood offers up a remix of hello bernhard as a digital bonus. applying deep house tactics, hood plays on warm piano stabs and brass hooks that deviate around the tight-knit drums for several minutes creating an epic rework.

freeze dried is the brand new label from the one and only grant nelson, with this new venture focusing on a deeper shade of beats... although refusing to be pigeon-holed, the labels brief is kept quite simple, fitting between a fusion of disco & deep house, the music quality is as you would expect the very highest quality! the opening release is a perfect snapshot of this, with the infectious nu-disco flavour of >time ties< kicking off the package, on the flip >not that same< goes a little deeper in the mix, with a melodic yet uplifting hook that has already been getting some serious exposure out in the ibiza sunshine.

mark and stefan have been making noises for a long, long time. born in an storm way, way back, they have forgotten more than most people know about the art of making people move their bodies in strange ways - graduating from the psychonautic academy of vibrational arts with 2 lfos, a couple of vcfs and 3 vcos… when theyre not working in the studio on their new psychedelic project pulp disco & the outcasts, theyre getting up to all sorts of bad behavior in ibiza, france and their home in london and manchester. warehouse parties, dirty dive bars and seedy strip joints have all been seduced by their magic over the years, and this is where the duo feel most at home. the wrong side of the horizon is where they were born…and dark dub-discos are now their only refuge. so when the moon is full, hitch a ride with them into deep space...

ppbr streetgang have a long lasting relationship with 2020vision, through the various record shops, dancefloors and after parties shared in leeds over the years. they have also remixed tracks from the last two crazy p albums for the label. as residents at we love at space ibiza theyve carved a niche as a classy dj double act as adept at backroom disco sets or terrace filling house tear ups, all delivered with a smattering of funk and good times. their debut 2020 ep follows up their >downstroke< release for hot creations, a huge throbbing low slung houser indebted to mike dunns classic >god made me phunky<. this ep continues the vibe of this last release, all tracks drip with funk in a sleazy house flavour with a definite disco edge. much like the pbr dj sound they have now found a trademark production style that utilises their love of a body shaking bassline, crisp beats, quirky samples and a unifying groove.

march sees the formidable hypercolour deliver its most surprising output yet, an ep from none other than groove armada. tom findlay and andy cato need little introduction as groove armada. chart smashes, huge live tours and being part of the worldwide electronic music history aside, the duo have never lost touch with their acid house roots and have continued to be devoted to record buying, djing and the much maligned promo trawl. tom and andy have been avid followers of the label it seemed, since its inception. it was through label head jamie, meeting the guys back in 2010 at space in ibiza, and then continued communication via hypercolour promos, that led to an out-of-the-blue email requesting an informal hook up in east london and, within just a few days, a release was scheduled. that release is the >no knock ep<, four tracks that range from 808 fuelled old school cuts to low slung, moog-bassd electronic funk. each sound is lovingly crafted but there is an analog rawness throughout and every track has the sort of tweaked, off-kilter and occasionally awkward vibe that hypercolour do so well. it just takes a bit of imagination to guess what a ga release on hypercolour should sound but failing that, just check the release out as it wont disappoint.

its not often you hear a track that instantly transports you to the sun-washed climbs of miami and rapturous dancefloors of ibiza - but from the moment this tune kicks in – bang, you are there!

the new leena welcomes an artist who rise through the ranks of the dj elite has been swift, purposeful and striking. starting out as a promoter and label manager, nicole moudaber booked huge acts for her soundworx nights at londons legendary turnmills club alongside running southeast recordings, but it wasnt long before she started to produce herself. flawlessly carving out her very own edgy house and tough, soulful techno sound, her music was instantly picked up by the worlds leading tastemakers including carl cox, john digweed and pete tong. a residency in ibiza playing alongside carl cox at his weekly night followed, as well as requests for guest mixes on both his and john digweeds internationally syndicated radio shows. her releases have received just as much praise as her dj performances.

there is hardly any other track so closely connected to sven väths twelfth ibiza season, like adonis by alex ridha aka boys noize. with his fusion of energy disco with massive percussions and chicago memories, adonis fitted just perfectly to the intensive late summer we had. but theres still more to come, and so cocoon recordings are offering no less than five congenial versions: on the vinyl edition we find, besides the original version, the first remix of stone breaker mark e, dj and producer from birmingham who recently had the honour to do an album on the well-respected us label spectral sound. he skilfully transfers adonis into a hypnotic house opus with a recognisable detroit pinch.

the time has now come for eklektisch to unveil release number 006 and a debut from melohman & javi bora (20:20 / upon you). staying true to the label s ethos, the pair harnessed the warmth of the summer and with flurry of piano chords, created another feel good dancefloor anthem in >you love you<.
the first of the remixes sees label boss edu imbernon pay tribute to his summer on the white isle with his villaimberlove remix. a weighty kick drum, spritely key melody and fiercely plucked strings make for a more driving version of the original.
more upfront still, is the rework from uk house don steve mac. having spent enough time of his own in ibiza this summer and celebrated the release of his artist album >roots<, steve looks to inject a large dose of pace and tech-muscle, whilst bathing us in aggressive and effective synths.

terence: terry’s record label la vie en rose gets set to re-release the huge hit >key of love< for the third release on the label, also featuring a rework from u s h and a remix from hold youth aka seuil and le loup.>key of love< was released for the first time back in 2002 on the label d-note by sleaze, which was made up of u s h and greg. it graced the dance floors of all the best underground clubs from ibiza (dc10) to paris (zebra) and it also featured on >kwality<, the ralph lawson and dan ghenacia compilation, gaining further popularity. limited copies were pressed so it quickly became a favourite for the vinyl collector.

back 2 back is built around a spontaneous live jam by dj pippi, tucillo and kiko navarro in dj pippis studio on ibiza. in a few hours they had finished the track. the ep opens with tucillo and willi graffs dub, a muscular, driving, stripped down rework of the original for a popping dance floor. kokis back dub is also a floor tool that has been well tested this summer by kiko navarro with great results. the ep finishes with a very cool afriki soul remix by bhoddi satva.
